Mrityunjaya Homam

Maha Sanjeevani Homa/Yagna, also known as Maha Mrityunjaya Homam, is done to enlist Lord Shiva's blessings in order to avoid fatal illnesses and premature death. This homam is conducted to attain Jeyam or victory over Mritya (death). This homam is performed by first calling upon Lord Shiva, then reciting the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra in order to extend one's life, and finally completing the homam. This is typically combined with Nakshatra homam.
