Karna Vedha (Ear Piercing)

The Karnavedha Sanskar is a traditional Hindu ceremony that pierces a child's ears under an Acharya's guidance. It is customary for the child to sit on the lap of their maternal uncle during the ceremony, and they wear new clothes. Before piercing the ears, the priest performs an Ayush homam and chants Mantra verses for the child's well-being. Along with the Ayush Homam, the ceremony is normally performed within a year of birthing or on the first Nakshatra of the child's birthday. The ear piercing ceremony has medicinal benefits, functioning as an acupuncture version of the earlobe. It regulates their biological cycle for girls and helps prevent hysteria and other diseases.
