Dasha Dhanam

According to the Vedas, offering donations is an important ritual. After a person's death, their karma during their lifetime determines the difficulties they will face. The Mahabharata mentions that different things are important to different people at different times, and Dhanam (donation) is the friend of a person who is about to die. There are ten types of donations, known as Dasha Dhanam, which can be given to poor brahmins: Land or Chandanam - Offering land or sandalwood relieves a person of great sins, such as Brahmahathya. Tila - Black sesame seeds can help remove sin in thought, speech, and action. Gold - This satisfies all gods and spares one from the suffering of Yama Loka. Ghee - This is given to please the devas.
